How F.I.R.E. Started

A group of regular guys completed the Christ Renews His Parish retreat in 2014 at their local church. They left the building after the weekend, and began to question: "what now?" The retreat weekend so catalyzed their faith, they felt called to inspire others in a similar way. The men then focused their energy on finding a challenging environment that might overpower men's senses, and open their eyes to a higher purpose. F.I.R.E. Ministries, a registered 501(c)(3), began operation in late 2014 and we hosted the first retreat in 2015 at Prairie Star Ranch.

The men became the F.I.R.E. Council. They are guys from all walks of life who love the outdoors, roaring campfires, dangerous activities and a shared love of Christ Jesus.  They invest more than 100 hours each year in imagining the retreat, and planning challenging events and worship activities. They invite friends, coworkers, family members and folks sitting near them in church pews to attend. They invite others to serve meals to our guests and to lead active conversations with men present to discover ways for all of us to be better husbands, fathers, sons and neighbors.
